Through the Merchant's Window

I have been working on this collage now for past 2-3 weeks and happy to say that it has been completed (well at least I think!) - You know that often you want to just keep adding a bit more and a bit more but here it is!!! The collage measures 26" x 22" and the centre pot and box collection of mine has been appliqued onto some old gold taffeta which I had in my stash and the surrounding fabrics are a combination of printed satins, velvets, brocades and cottons which have been embellished with black lace, Vintage sari border fabrics and other trims with some gold beads and sequins.  The outer border is part of a black and gold printed wrap with a black fringing.

The whole piece has been quilted piece by piece.

  2. Oh Suzy, this piece is just GORGEOUS!!! I love your colours, the wonderful textures.I know what you mean about embellishing...too much is never enough(he,he). Is this piece for you or for sale? The yellow is a great dramatic accent. A treat for the eyes!

  3. Your work looks like an old world tapestry. I would think that it came from some exotic shop in an oriental country. You have such a unique talent.

  5. Thank you kindly Judy and Judith and Lorraine - I guess that it does have an old world tapestry "feel" about it. The golds, blacks and aubergine tonings probably help to create that feel. It is just so difficult to convey the real richness in this piece through a photo.
