The Collage continues.............
Two more pieces of the jigsaw are in progress - getting near completion. The pieces have been built up with pieces of old lace, old silk braids, some stamped velvet, an old insert from a vintage garment from Rajasthan on a bed of old maroon chenile.

Etsy Shop Treasury
I guess this is something worth blogging about!
I have just been informed that I have been featured in a Treasury on the Etsy site.
It is a colour feast of some beautiful felted objects including a felted and fabric bag I have made. The link is http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list_west.php?room_id=95684.

Beautiful Handmade Lace
I thought I would share with you this gift I have been given of some very old handmade lace fingerless gloves from my dear friend, Lyn, who is moving home, along with some very old handmade lace. One of the pairs of gloves have never been worn. They would belong to a time around the turn of the centaury and would be a rare find today They belonged to her grandmother. They are beautiful.

East meets Victorian
Here I have used some of the beautiful silk and velvet fabric which I dyed with my friend Jo when she was visiting from New Zealand in Summer. We gathered up some magenta rose coloured petals and geranium flowers in similar colours, wrapped them up in the fabric and dyed them for a few hours.
The really clear results of this can be seen in an earlier post. The effect is soft and subtle.

Back to the quilt
Even though I have deviated off onto another tangent or two as you can see from previous post, I am back on the job again working on the quilt. By now I have completed most of the free machine quilting and I am now enjoying this slow stitching, over the top in some cases.
The binding is also completed.

For our dear friend, Claire, only 27 years old
just given the diagnosis of breast cancer,
just married to her dearest friend, Ian,
just pregnant.
The riddle of life is just beyond our understanding!
As a little way of uplifting her I made this card
yesterday to accompany a "cuddle quilt" I made
for all the times she feels it is needed.
We just wish for her the best over and over again.

Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow
Today I managed to finish the quilting on this small piece of fibre artwork.
It is a composition based on crazy quilting and incorporating dyed silk, multicoloured wooltops, gold braid as well as antique Indian braid and defined with a gold thread.
The wool was felted onto the silk by a felting machine and then overquilted with an ornamental stitch by machine.
It is yet to be completed with tabs for hanging.
