Well I think I might fess up to another UFO here. To celebrate my love of Old World Roses I made this quilt about 3 years ago - almost finished apart from more hand stitching and more machine quilting. It consists of a number of random large sized pieces of crazy patchwork using materials of dupion silk, brocades, printed chiffon and embroidered satin, maroon lace pieces, crushed velvets, and the roses were cut from soft shades of furnishing fabric. It is very rich but, at the same time, has a softness about it.
Well not much more to say apart from - Well I must get on with it so that I can say "It's finished" - those words which we love. It will happen slowly whilst I am continuing with my current project.
As I was sitting at my machine sewing part of my new project I received this email from a friend, Andrea. It's a tapestry interpretation of Klimpt's "Adele". I thought it was so beautiful that I would share it. Klimpt's paintings can be a wonderful source of inspiration in our aspiring creativity in so many ways!
I am hoping that this image which I have retaken portrays a more accurate interpretation of the collage showing the depth and richness of the colours used. Hope you are enjoying your day!
I have been working on this collage now for past 2-3 weeks and happy to say that it has been completed (well at least I think!) - You know that often you want to just keep adding a bit more and a bit more but here it is!!! The collage measures 26" x 22" and the centre pot and box collection of mine has been appliqued onto some old gold taffeta which I had in my stash and the surrounding fabrics are a combination of printed satins, velvets, brocades and cottons which have been embellished with black lace, Vintage sari border fabrics and other trims with some gold beads and sequins. The outer border is part of a black and gold printed wrap with a black fringing.
