Simply Neutrals Tuesday No. 5 - New Journal with vintage image transfers

Whilst working with my new journal incorporating
some new stencils, some plaster,
vintage transfer images, vintage laces, sari ribbon,
silk organza and some mica pigment powders
I thought some of the resulting pages could be included
in Wen's
So in keeping with the theme of neutrals I am sharing just some
of the pages here:

The pages hold some beautiful images of a famous British photographer of the late 1800's, Julia Margaret Cameron.

You will notice also some recycled white
lace clothing on some pages here
such as this ribbon lace

and part of a cotton lace, pin tucked and gathered lace blouse here.

 Understated roses on silk organza

and the same fabric incorporated into some silk chiffon
underlying some dyed scrim.  This page has been
felted onto bamboo cotton.

I love the pure simplicity of this rose over white cotton lace

with a touch of dusty pink unspun mohair!

Please go and visit Wen's blog (link above)
for some exquisite artwork and
photography.

This Journal will be for sale so if there is any interest
just email me at suziqu@tpg.com.au.

Enjoy dear friends,

Love, Suzy

T'was the Season for Giving and Receiving

Just a couple of very lovely gift to share
that I received at the end of 2013
to show you some
wonderful talent from beautiful bloggers.

Firstly this from Dorthe
a very dear woman whose friendship
has blossomed into something very special and dear
to my heart over
the years of blogging.

We are always surrounded by angels

and it is something quite unique to

see them become represented through the eyes

of talented people such as the likes of Dorthe -
(Denlillelade)

Isn't her dress in broderie anglais lace so beautiful
and her little stitched shoes?

Snow white hair  with her dress adorned in laces and pearls!

with no detail unfinished.  She truly is a Winter Angel
from the Northern Hemisphere.

She is as adorable as her creator don't you think?
and so many others can testify to this!!!
Heartfelt thanks my dear dear friend
she will live in my studio until
Christmas comes around again.
♥♥♥
From another part of the world in North Carolina
came this beautiful  Christmas box from
(Artful Affirmations)

filled to the brim with the most beautiful and surprising gifts

you could imagine. My jaw just dropped!

There is so much giving in the spirit of love

when your bloggy friends really "know" you!
A vintage Christmas Angel collage

a most beautiful linen Christmas stocking also
from the hands of Terri

edged in layers of tattered, worn and stained
vintage laces!
So much love and thought gone into all the little details of
these beautiful creations!

Inside the handmade stocking there were also a number

of little parcels containing all number of things from
a container of paper snowflakes,
seam binding, reels of laces,
a number of linen doilies, a vintage lace collar,

a magnificent piece of vintage tattered black embroidered
lace, buttons, a medal of Mary and other pieces
to embellish with.

In the box also were some special pieces of French
ephemera as well as some cabinet cards of women
and some of Terri's favorite tea bags of
baked cinnamon apple which, no doubt,
she has shared with all those who follow her
Teacup Tuesday posts.

My heart has been so touched by these amazing treasures
that Terri has keeping her eye out for in
planning this amazing gift!

Now who wouldn't feel blessed to have friends
like these? I know for sure that I am!
Thank you so very much for showing me so much kindness
I am so very very appreciative!

The very least I could offer is a bouquet of roses

straight from the garden!

Let there be plenty of love to share around everyday
with everyone that you can - it could even be a wonderful
New Year's resolution!

A New Year's Wish

The New Year is rapidly approaching

and I just wanted to share with you all
a beautiful wish that I came
across last New Year's Eve
which says

♥♥♥♥♥

"My New Year's wish for 2014
is that you have someone to love,
have meaningful works to do,
that you have things greater than yourself to believe in,
that you have a reason to smile everyday,
you have a shoulder to cry on when you need it and
you keep your integrity even when the choices are hard;
that you love deeply,
give freely, forgive willingly, laugh easily
and live well enough to be grateful for every day of the year".

♥♥♥♥♥

I hope to be learning more, being inspired more
and sharing more creations like this

more vintage purchases of the things

that make our hearts sing

like old handled lace

and vintage jewellery
as well as more beautiful inspiration from our garden of roses.

in the weaving of the threads of textures and of our lives
@ Suziqusthreadworks.

Thank you most sincerely all my loyal followers and friends
who have enjoyed your visits here throughout the year
I wish you much inner peace, happiness and health
for 2014
and
one of my New Year's resolution is to try to visit
your blogs more often to show my appreciation
of your comments and to gain more
inspiration.

For the Shabby Chic Romantics

On the weekend I have been busy
making more items for
my Etsy shop.

Firstly

this little fabric journal featuring a favourite
pre-raphaelite print adorned with

printed silk, dyed doilies and laces.
The edges of the felted pages have been embellished
with more vintage laces and silk.

And secondly,
is another needlekeep
(or for that matter, a small booklet
with plain felted pages which could be used to

store photos or scrap booking ephemera).

Detail of closure shown here and

back page.

These items will appear in my Etsy shop as soon as I
can organize this.

For all of you who just can't go past beautiful old lace
I thought I would show you some that I
purchased at a local Flea Market

on the weekend.
Most of the lace shown in these images has been completely
hand made, crocheted or tattered.
I purchased them from a woman who used to make
period costumes
so she was very pleased to see them being used for keepsake items!

Wishing you all a wonderfully productive week
of creativity as well as some fun in the sun!!

Love to you all, Suzy xxx

Vintage Lace Needlebooks

OK so we have all been given a bit of grief
with Blogger in the last 24 hours
but hey life goes on
and no one has
died
so
lets hope  we can now post articles and photos again!!!

I have been busy making a number of small needlebooks

for a shop in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

I have used some images from some vintage postcards in my collection
as well as vintage printed cotton, damask
and scrim

Remnants of an old embroidered tablecloth.

and the centre of this one below came as a gift from Pat Winter
one of our very best crazy quilters and who
publishes the most beautiful magazine called
Crazy Quilt Gatherings.
Check out Pats blog for details about the magazine at

Showing you here both front and back pages.

And finally here
Some gold organza, green velvet, printed cotton,
a silk suffolk puff, tied together with
a piece of torn gold sari ribbon.

I was also toying with the idea of putting some of these in my Etsy Shop!!!

Hope your weekend is going well, especially now that
Blogger is back.
Yeh!!!

A very big "thank you" to all my new blogging friends
too - I do hope that you find something inspiring
here to try.
Love and good wishes, Suzy.
