More Journal Pages and Early Spring

This is the latest page in the fabric journal. It has all the richness of some favourite fabrics, sari pieces, very old braids, velvet and linen that I could dig out from the bottom of my drawer. It reminds me of shades of the desert, clay, stone and dirt -rich ruby stones and coins.

And in complete contrast below is a display of the pastel shades at the very beginning of Spring in our Garden - Irises, pansies, hellibores, granny's bonnets and borage popping up in the vegi garden. How these shades just blend into each other.
A feast to enjoy!!!

Hope everyone has a great week ahead when I will be off visiting my not-so-well Dad (almost 90 years old) interstate!!
I will be catching up with you in a week's time!!!

Next Pair of Journal Pages and Magnolias

I just can't believe how I manage to surround myself with so much "stuff" whilst I make these journal pages. At times I think I barely leave myself enough room to work on my current piece - there are bits and pieces of fabric, braid, lace, brocades, mohair, cottons, batting, buttons, and the list goes on! EVERYWHERE!!! Where does it all come from? It covers my work table, my ironing board, the desk where I am sewing - it's on the floor. Then the next thing I find myself sitting down on the floor with my my old vanity and mirrored vanity case (where I have stored all my gorgeous cotton laces) resorting, rewinding and reorganizing everything.
Anyway - here we have another pair of journal pages which are happy to share a similar theme. I hope you like them!
With the beginning of Spring some of the first things we see are these beautiful Magnolias. A pink one in the foreground and a White Star Magnolia behind that, and in the rear is a Crab Apple almost in full pink blossom.I
That Star Magnolia is truely fragrant! I wish I could share this perfume with you!!!

Journal Pages and Dutch Irises

Another fabric Page for my journal - This was also collaged onto a very old and tattered cotton lace hankerchief (with a golden and fern green brocade fabric). The pieces here include some organza over synthetic golds, rust dyed silk, tea dyed damask linen, dyed mohair and finished with a lace motif.
This one has been partnered with the page below which I have embellished quite a bit more!
I couldn't resist showing you these gorgeous Dutch Irises flowering in the early morning sun. These are some of the first flowers of Spring in our garden - AND there will be many more to come!!!

Layers of Journal Love

This page will probably be typical of the corresponding embellished page in my Fabric Art Journal. This allows for making notes straight onto the fabric in my handwriting. I have used one of my mother's hankerchiefs, some silk velvet in maroon with paisley printed over it, some butter muslin, lace and embroidered organza in green all over the top of a piece of gold brocade!
Hope you all enjoy your weekend!!
