A New Year's Message

As I was driving home along a country dirt road
just before Christmas
I came across a car accident which had just happened.
On the side of the road and
standing in a paddock next to a car on its roof
was a very distressed but unharmed young man.
He was a victim trying to avoid a crash.
As I lived quite close to the scene
I took this young man home
so that we could help him to make arrangements about the car etc.
as anyone would.
and
as Christmas Day approached so too did this young man, Dale

came knocking at our door with his father bearing a gift of gratitude.
Thus came this wonderful act of kindness out of the blue
without any sense of expectation.

Aren't we surrounded by wonderful human beings
who can give and take
and establish a system of real humanity
actually based on kindness!

May Your New Year too
be filled
with
many acts of kindness
and
May happiness, inspiration and creativity
be yours!

  5. It's stories like this that help you believe that the world isn't such a bad place - even after all the (mostly) bad news screaming out of our tv's.

there are many wonderful people out there who we rarely get to meet or hear about...

...this is where blogging helps isn't it? :-)

Happy New Year to you and yours...

    ...and to Dale and his....

  6. My parents had this kind of thing happen to them too. They helped a young girl stranded on the highway. The parents wrote a long article in our local newspaper commending my parents. I have that article placed in our heirloom album. The good we do for others comes back in unexpected ways sometimes. You acted because you automatically knew it was the right way to behave and live and you were appreciated for it.

  8. What a lovely postcript to his trauma! So many folks drive past these days, 'dont see' and dont want to 'get involved'~ it is a dangerous world I know, but we each have to live with our consciences dont we.
So I reckon folks like you are the real angels of the world and how lovely to have that selfless act reciprocated!

  9. A simple thing to help someone, why do we find it so hard. Glad the young fellow is okay and that he acknowledged your reaching out a hand. xox Corrine

  14. The other nice thing about this story Suzi is the Good Samaritan you were, proving that they still abound in this world to help their fellow man in need. Many, many years ago I had a terrible car for a while that would constantly break down on my way to work. To this day I still amazed when I think back on the perfect strangers who would stop to give hele to young woman stranded along the side of a busy highway.
Sending Happy Happy New Year wishes to you half way around the world.
    xoxo
