Angels for Christmas - 50th Celebration of SNT

Now we all know that we need angels
in our lives to lift us up
and
give us our wings to fly.
They are always around us guiding us and showing us the way!

I wanted to share these angels I created three years ago which
were recently published in the Winter Edition
of
 Crazy Quilt Quarterly magazine.

I share there a little tutorial on how I created these.

I once again created several more recently which
I listed in my Etsy

At the time of creating this post
there were these two girls left
but now I see just one remains!

The inspiration for these creations came from
my friend Lilla Levine. Lilla has been
sharing her beautiful French creations on her blog
now for many years with videos that you can
follow along with also.

This month is the celebration of
which is where I am sharing my post. So please
pop over there and look at all the wonderful entries this month
along with a wonderful giveaway from our hard working
and very talented host, Wen.

Many thanks always for your lovely visits and
for the kind comments that you leave.
I really appreciate that so much!

Love to you all! xxx  Suzy

Vintage Inspiration Lace and Fabric Kits

With Christmas coming up very fast
I was thinking perhaps these
Vintage Inspiration Kits of Lace
and French script fabrics
along with these beautiful images

may inspire a little creativity within you!

These images are from my own collection and they come
with the bones of a little book 5.5 x 4 inches with batting
and some scripted French cotton fabrics

vintage laces, doilies, netted flower fabric,
beaded appliques, pearl buttons
and other little bits and pieces.

There are so many different projects these can
be used for and they are only limited
by your imagination!

This is another similar kit but with antique
children images
and a lovely selection of more laces and French script
fabrics.

These Inspiration Kits are definitely just the thing
for all of you who love these old images and laces
and
are now available in my Etsy shop

An Eco-dyed paper and Textile Concertina - SNT No. 49

 Dear Blog friends
here is my latest little concertina book
"Tattered whispers on the breeze"
made from handmade paper

and inspired by the beautiful artwork of
Lynne Moncrieff of Lynnesbowsandbells blog

It was so much fun to create
using papers from my eco-dyed little stash of silks and water colour papers
along with many other vintage page papers, tea bag papers, envelopes, vintage music, tags and other ephemera.

but what was new this time was the use of
some of Lynne's wild flower stamps

and her nature themed Affirmation Stamps

which I so love to be inspired with!

I also incorporated the use of
scraps of vintage lace
which I dyed with tea, rust and some copper pipe!
All of these papers were put in together
in the dye bath!

The book itself is only 4 x 6 inches
and what you see below is this
little bag, made from
vintage linen dyed in the same bath
to hold this sweet little treasure
of inspiring pages and affirmations!

You can read more posts like this over at
with Wen Sylvestre! Enjoy!
Thanks Wen for hosting again for another month. Our next
Simply Neutrals post will be the 50th!

Many thanks to all of my new followers and
for leaving your kind comments.
Love to hear from you all!
Have a wonderful week!

Some published artwork and journals!

Although my artwork these days has a focus of mixed media, vintage textiles papers, lace and fibres, I am still always drawn to the love of crazy quilting where I can incorporate the use of these.

This piece has been published in the 2019 Crazy Quilt Calendar available 1st October! It depicts the month of February with a romantic Valentine's Theme!

This image depicts some antique lace with cherubs on it!
Rather special I feel!
Herringbone pearl beaded stitching!

Vintage ginger colored lace fabric over
embroidered netting!

The old gold satin embroidered piece was from
a very old cushion!
and
the romantic French card image I printed
onto fabric for an off centre piece
complements
the beautiful laces
along with appliques of wedding pearls
and black printed flowers over white organza!

Some beautiful two toned silk ribbon
which I beaded with vintage black beads!

(Apologies for this deletion I was unable to correct it!!!!!!)

There really is something special and unique in stitching
with these old laces and work so
easily into these crazy quilted pieces!

If you would like to see some lovely lace quilts then visit Joelle at matinlumineux.blogspot.com
She is sharing some of my lace quilts also which was
such a co-incidence! Thank you dear friend very much!

These are a few mini journals which I have recently created!

These little journals which measure approx. 6" x 8" contain
12 stamped pages which have been left blank
for your own journalling!

All have gone to new homes but this last one is still
available in my Etsy shop
Just click on the link to view!

As these images are predominantly in neutral shades

A sweet vintage mini concertina book

Welcome friends to my blog today!
Well you all know how much a fan I am of making books.
This one was inspired by the wonderful Caterina Giglio.
She has an excellent You Tube video on how to create
 one of these mini concertinas!

Go check out her video here: https://caterinagiglio.blogspot.com/…/mini-fabric-concertin…

This little book requires simple sewing skills

and you can choose any theme, words, buttons, ribbons, laces, cards and findings that you so desire!

The beautiful metal heart and the holy card came
from Rhonda of A Little Bit French Shop - Thank you so much
Rhonda for these!

She really has a beautiful collection of kits at the moment
which would be ideal for creating one of these
little concertina books!

I used a lovely vintage cut lace linen tray cloth
for mine which I dyed with Parisian Essence
to achieve this color but you may
also use tea, coffee or natural dyes
for your little project!

My poem here I printed and backed with
a tea bag giving more depth of color!

Whatever theme you choose it needs to be
what is meaningful for you
or
it can be just a little fun piece

where you can use up your precious little
pieces of scrap laces and doilies!
I know it will be one I will make over again for sure!
♥♥♥
Thanks Cat for all of your wonderful inspiration!!!
♥♥♥♥♥

Now I'm going to link this post up to
and if you so desire
you can still link up any of your neutrals post
for another week before it becomes No. 48

Many thanks to all of my new followers and to anyone
else who loves and appreciates the items
I create! Enjoy!!!

Love and hugs,
Suzy xxx
