A Vintage Lace Necklace

A new project has been mulling around in my head
for the last couple of weeks and so now
that it has become manifest
I thought you may
like to see this.

It is a vintage lace necklace, collar or bib -
depending on how you see it -
above it is displayed
against some deep burgundy silk velvet

and the many layers of vintage and new
lace pieces have been collaged

shaped onto some soft white felt

and embellished with several pieces of jewellery
including a vintage cameo, a satin ribbon rose,
a fashioned silk rose (also by me), some
vintage buttons, lace beaded applique and mother of pearl
buttons

and it ties with a length of soft cream sari ribbon.

You can find this in my Etsy shop as it is
now for sale!
I'm linking this post to What's It Wednesday at
Ivy and Elephants blog with Patti and Paula.

  1. Oh Suzy, what terribly sad news. I have been following her for a few years and admired her greatly, both for her amazing works of art and also her strength in dealing with both her husband's and her own illness.
I wanted to say so many things about that gorgeous bib necklace you have created, but I'll leave that for another day now.

  2. I did not know her but I am sorry for your loss. As a breast cancer survivor, tales of those warriors who didn't win the battle are especially heartbreaking. Get your mammograms!

  3. Absolutely stunning Suzy! WOW, so many lovely details. I love how you create your flowers! I also loved the clutch you made. It is beautiful! I hope you know how much you inspire me to try new things.
I hope your summer is going nicely. I can imagine you are enjoying your garden so much. Your roses must be amazing this time of year. It won't be long now and I will be able to get a little dirt under my fingernails again, but right now the ground is frozen solid and it's hard to imagine it.
    much love to you...

  14. I'm sorry to say that I didn't know JoAnna and it's so sad how that horrible disease takes away so many loved ones. So sorry that it's taken another one. As for the collar - at first I thought it was a purse. How pretty this would be coupled with a simple black (or deep red!) dress.

  15. Thank you, Suzy, for posting about JoAnnA Pierotti. She was one of the first artists for me to take a class with in the fall of 2008. So I have known her seven years, and was always inspired by her lovely creativity. She will be deeply missed! And out of her pain and troubles with our Lord.
    Blessing to you!

  17. Please don't use this masterpiece as a bib. I'd hate to see food dribbles all over it. Just gorgeous, Suzy. Everything you touch is perfect.

Sad sad news about JoAnna ...

    Peace!
