Simply Neutrals Tuesday No. 9

Just the other day I received some small fabric pieces
from a friend which I will share below
and there was a piece in there
which inspired me immediately and I just had to create with it!
I called this art piece "Gratitude"

I found this gorgeous image on the net and loved it immediately -
the soft tones of loving children embracing
each other so tenderly
with flowers cascading down their little bodies!

It is so delicate and soft with an air of mysteriousness!

I used some very soft lace and a silken
hand knitted doily to partially frame
their sweet faces

and partially covering the image on the opposite side
 with a little
soft felted chiffon!

The inspiration for this collage started with a piece of
recycled fabric from my lovely friend, Liz,

you can see it on the far left had side.
Aren't those French wood bobbins so gorgeous
that you can see in the front of the pic.?
Well there are still some in her
Etsy shop La Croix Roison for sale
at
https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/253077147/vintage-french-wood-bobbins-set-of-4?ref=shop_home_active_7.

Today I'm linking my collage to Wen's
so won't you come over and join me there?

  1. Absolutely beautiful piece Suzy! Yes that graphic is so sweet too.
Love those soft greens in with the fabrics and lace and the bobbins are lovely. Don't think I've seen any like them before. ♥

  2. Wow - more gorgeous work from you Suzy... you never cease to amaze me, how you take bits of this and that and work your magic. The picture, as you say, is perfect, and the colour palette compliments it beautifully. Always inspiring to drop in here and see what you do.

    Many hugs,

  3. The photo reminds me of a scene from Jane Eyre, when she and Helen became such fast friends but Helen was dying so Jane would curl up in bed with her... It's a little morose but it is an example of a great and tender friendship.

They are so inspiring (wish, I could do such craftings too!)

  6. Dear Suzy, I am so happy that a little piece of fabric I sent you inspired such a beautiful piece. It is incredibly difficult to pick favourites amongst your beautiful works, but I think this one is right at the top of the list. It makes me smile and teary at the same time. xxx

  7. Dearest you, this is such a stunning piece. Your found image, is truly kind of magic, and you added to the feeling with the "covering" of it with your felted beautiful chiffon. I can see how Liz`s gorgeous fabrics, and the spools made you want to create ,-and use the fabric just begging to be added to that image.
My soul is singing dear Suzy !!
    Hugs ,Dorthe

  11. Oh Suzy!
It's so beautiful! I have this image by Julia Margaret Cameron in a huge frame at my front door. I bought it at the Australian National Gallery years ago along with a beautiful book of her photographs. It's my favourite of her pictures. What you have done is so perfect for it.
    hugs,

    Jesse
