A Little Bit of Homemade Christmas

It's that time of year when we tend to become less busy with our creative projects and turn our attention hopefully to thinking of a more peaceful time  and  a time to share a bit more good will!  Even though I prefer to keep things nice and simple and less fussy at Christmas I do like to have a few decorations
around as a reminder of what Christmas is really about.
A Christmas wreath which I made from Wysteria cuttings a few years ago, decorated with gum leaves and gumnuts which I sprayed gold along with a few miniature pine cones and a few other bits and pieces.
In keeping with a simple theme we came up with the idea of a Christmas tree made from boxes!
I searched the house for a suitable arrangement and came up with these:

A handmade timber box made from oregan timber
A Chinese camphor box with brass closure
A hand painted box from India
A beautifully hand carved mother of pearl box from Turkey
Another hand painted box from India
and
Last but not least another tiny wooden box from India with a metal decoration on top.
and
there you have it a decorated Christmas Tree!

But Christmas would not be complete without Angels so here are a few to set the scene.
HHope you are all enjoying this time of year and not getting caught up in the flurry of things you must do, have and buy for Christmas.
Search inside yourself for what you already have!
PEACE AND HAPPINESS!!!

  2. Hi Suzy, love the simple wreath, and the boxes look like a little shrine. The shops are so full of glitze and glitter, it is nice to have "simple" at home.
I'm working on gold and cream at the moment- very soft after the reds and greens.

Also, thank you so mcuch for your lovely comment on my blog! It's true - I wanted to create something that really did look as if it had been picked out of a fire. You prompted me to write about my inspiration as a return comment, so you will have to go and read that to find out more, ha!
Anyway, did I tell you I have put you on my side panel under Blogs I Love?
    Merry Xmas my friend!

  7. Christmas is simplified this year as I continue to recover from hand surgery. Sometimes that is a good thing. Enjoyed seeing all your lovely decorations.

  9. Elegant , rich colors! I love your ideas. I am all for creating ones ambiance with things we have and treasure. Our tree is filled with things going back to all our childhoods and then some. No need to "shop"! I love making my gifts too, if time permits. Your home is a treasure Suzy!
