More Christmas Greeting Cards to Share

A very important part of Christmas
is the giving of a greeting card
and here are two more
recently finished
cards

which I have listed in my Etsy

They are actually collages of themselves
which could even be framed and

where I have used an image of Madonna and Child
sewn onto layers of sari fabric with gold thread,
scripted fabric, chiffon, black cardstock
with vintage lace
and
below here another which has even more layers of brocade fabric,
lace fabric, chiffon, velvet, sari silk ribbon,

vintage lace, netting, a fashioned rose from thread
with a vintage brass button in the centre
with the words "Rejoice"!

The two cards below were created as
"Thank You" cards  have already gone!

I couldn't resist using this dear little angel image once again

 just because I love her!

Trusting your weekend is going as well as ours here!

Love and hugs,

Doily and Lace Quilt Now Completed

This is a project which I have been working on now
for quite some time in between many other
smaller artworks
and
I am so happy to say that it is now completed
and it has been posted this morning to
the United States to a lovely
woman who has commissioned artwork from me previously.

You know I didn't even measure this one but I think it is
approx. 56 square inches.

Here you can see it folded showing the most beautiful hand crocheted edging. I used this linen tablecloth as the base
for my doilies. The next layer consists of a wool blend
batting and for the final layer I used a sweet
embroidered tablecloth with pink flowers
and green leaves.

Once I arrived at a pleasing arrangement and placement
of these doilies
(even this step of auditioning doilies in their different shapes and sizes keeps me lost it seems for hours with decisions!)
I then set about pinning them in place ready for
machine quilting.

So it's layer upon layer of machine stitching

These images convey the depth and softness of the layers.

and then having completed this stage I look to see
where I need to place some smaller lace appliques
which tie it altogether
and these maybe machine stitched or hand stitched in place.

Now taking my silver dish of mop buttons

I begin to sew through all the layers to anchor the quilt together.

It is a slow and meditative process which I really enjoy
and I'm always pleased when I reach the end to
see the final result but I know it will be
appreciated for it is just incredible to think about the history
in each separate doily, where it came from and for
the hand made ones -
the hours it took to create them.

 The completed quilt!!!!!
So that's it for another day!
I'm linking this post to What's It wednesday at
Ivy and Elephants Blog so go and pay a visit there.

Thanks for coming to visit. I love reading your comments
and visiting your blogs too.

Inspired by Angels

Another two Angel projects to share
with you today -
firstly another Jeanne d'Arc art inspired angel similar
to the one on my previous post

with layers of vintage and wedding lace, broderie anglaise,
scrim and netting

with the softest shades of grey sari silk ribbon,
crystal and beads.
♥♥♥
Secondly is this blank journal decorated with a lace and fabric
cover adorned with the sweetest angel image!

These two items are now in my Etsy shop.

The weekend is almost here where I live and we are hoping
to enjoy some blue skies, beautiful sunshine and a
walk along the beach!
Hope your weekend coming up will be just what you are wishing for.

It's That Time of Year Again!

It's that time of year when bloggers who love
to create artworks for the Festive Season
start putting their ideas into action
and
here are a few projects which
I have just completed.

Firstly is this Jeanne d'Arc inspired art angel paper
and lace doll decoration

which may be used as a Christmas tree or mantel decoration

or even be left hanging on your wall or favorite place
throughout the year.

She has been decorated in several layers of vintage laces, white
chiffon, broderie anglaise lace and embellished with a pearl
colored sari ribbon sash, seam binding and a pearl applique
backed with a glittery snowflake
ready to hang.
 ♥♥♥
Two more greeting cards with soft lace accents,
music paper and painted water color paper.

These are now up for sale in my Etsy Shop.

It is great to share these images
and
it is an even greater thing that you take the time to leave
a comment - thank you so much for your generosity!

A Journal for Grace and Peace Doves

This little journal was created for Grace who is about to celebrate
here 13th Birthday. Her mother, Francie, is my hairdresser.
Now Francie asked me to create
a journal for her first daughter, Amalia,
when she turned 13 which was two and a half years ago

(Amalia's little journal)

and
now that it is Gracie's 13th Birthday she asked her mother
if she could also have one of those keepsakes
so
once again using another Pre-raphaelite image by Rosetti
called "Roman Widow" I created this little journal
for her.

I used this recycled Battenburg lace tissue box cover for the cover
of the book - it was just the perfect size
which I manipulated, dyed
and
sewed it together in the centre
and this is how it looked when finished.

I added several layers of silk dyed lace, lace fabric
embroidered organza, silk and rayon fabric,
costume jewellery
and added some very old gold silk braid
from my stash.

I called it "Sweet Memories" for the times
when Grace can look back at what
she has  entered into her
journal.

Grace is a "nature" girl so I added a few bird images

with some French accents.

As Christmas is approaching I decided to create, along with my
angel cards, some of these Peaceful Doves

which are now available in My Etsy Shop

They might be just the right addition to your
Christmas Tree, as a Mantel decoration
or
a wall decoration.

It is hard to believe that we are only 6 weeks away from
Christmas once again! I am sure many of you
too are thinking of gifts and decorations
at this time - I always love the idea
of keeping it simple!!!

Wishing you all a pleasant weekend enjoying what
you most love
and
thanks again for your wonderful visits and comments.
